Experts from positive psychology center share with us five steps to make the world a brighter place - by making yourself a happier person!
1. Express Gratitude - Research has shown that people who are consistently grateful are happier, more energetic and hopeful, and experience more frequent positive emotions.
2. Nurture Social relationships - making time to connect with others builds strong relationships, cultivating positive emotions, which in turn helps you attract more and higher - quality relationships that'd made you happier.
3. Develop Resilience -learning how to cope up with negative events reduces stress, hurt and suffering. In a survey of female breast cancer survivors, those who were more optimistic and mentally well adjusted coped better. Their positive views didn't hurt them even when their beliefs were dis confirmed, displaying resilience in negative situation.
4. Stop Comparing - Social Comparison will never end. There'll always be someone prettier, smarter and stronger. Start appreciating yourself for who you are instead.
5. Be Charitable - Do something for the needy. Take up volunteer work. when you do something altruitistic and see the problems of the less fortunate, you'll be stuck by how petty your own concerns seems to be, as well as how good you feel when you can help others.
