Tips fo successful telecommuting

Create a ritual and stick to it.
Clearly determine when you are beginning work and try to forget that you are
actually in the comforts of your own home.

Come up with a plan.
To make the most out of your time at home, carefully plan out what should be done for the entire day.
By doing so, you can guarantee that everything is well taken care of. Also, take breaks especially when you need to do a lot of repetitive tasks but never overindulge.

Establish a schedule for your other duties.
Do not forget your other responsibilitites at home,too.Don't just put work tasks in your schedule. Spare a fraction of your time for your family, for
meals,for relaxation, for doing the laundry and dishes, and for all the other things you wish to get done by working from home.

Make things easier.
Do not let your work get piled up by focusing on tasks that really matter
and must be immediately completed.
Get rid of distraction that take much of your time.

Choose a quit work location.
If possible,have a separate room, away from the livingroom or family room.
Aside from being noise-free, your working area should also spacious enough
for you to be at ease and in the mood for work.

Keep yourself well-groomed.
As comfortable as it may seem, there is no better way to get hyped up at
work and start your day right than taking a shower first and putting on
some decent clothing.

Stay in touch.
Make sure that your lines of communication with your clients and team
members are still open even if your are working at home. Keep them
updated with the progress of your work so as not to be accused of negligence.

Use a timer to stay focused.
If it can help you to concentrate better, use a timer. If your have problems staying focused, and tend to surf the web or check email or
whatever, try disconnecting when you really need to concentrate on a task.
Ask everyone else at home to not bother you when you're into an important task.

Set limits for evey task
If you have a lineup of tasks waiting to be done,set a time limit for
each one of them so you will not end up getting stuck to one task the
whole day.

Melissa Mendez with "HILOT"

Veteran actress Melissa mendez is aware that the Philippine movie industry is still struggling to survive if it can't regain its old glory. Yet she took a bold move and produced the digital movie "HILOT", which for her is a thirst quencher for her showbiz carrers bid for a worthwhile experience. "HILOT" came about after she watched the indie-film "Tiltil" on its premiere night. She was very impressed with film's director Neal "Buboy" Tan that she called him for a meeting. According to her she was inspired by "Tiltil" to produce a digital film. She met with Tan and voila!~ they has a project,since the director had a ready a script for her to invest on!

She may be a neophyte in producing films but it is one field that she wants to dabble in and explore. She'd always been working in front of the cameras and before long has become one of the respected actresses of the country.With what she has experienced so far, Marissa feels prepared to wear the producer's hat.

Melissa also considers her movie a blessing because she wasn't given any problem during principal photography in the Quiapo area and even inside Quiapo church.She calls it as an "anointing". In fact the director called the whole process smooth flowing with the whole cast being supportive of "HILOT".

Also in "HILOT" which is produced by Emerge Entertainment and sunflower Films, are Glenda Garcia who is also the co-producer of "HILOT", Iya San Agustin,Beegay Morales and Ricardo Cepeda.

Asia Agcaoile is pregnant

Former Viva Hotbabe Asia Agcaoile is pregnant, this she revealed recently.
"Yes, I am pregnant.I just recently found out" Asia revealed in her Facebook account.
She added,"The dad is my Dutch boyfriend.I have been thingking about having a baby this year anyway. Its very timely because my contract with Premiere Condom has expired anyway,which means I can start a family.I feel like I'm born again!"

Tips on how working parents can manage their time

Know your priorities and simplify your life - Set priorities. Write down all the things that you think must be accomplished within the day or week and check them off.

Ask each member of the family to share in your tasks- Managing the household is a family affair, so you don't have to own all the responsibilities at home. Giving children responsibilities makes them better citizens too.

Get outside help- If the family income permits, hire a housekeeper. This will make your life easier. Having dinners delivered once or twice a month is a treat.Also consider having your groceries delivered.

Shop Wisely- Shop for things that will help you maximize your time at home such as multi-purpose appliances.

Multitask- Do two things at once such as having a business discussion over the phone while you are sweating it out on a stationary bicycle.

Say "NO"- Don't waste time on commitments and other things that don't match your priorities.

Prepare things before sleeping- Running around trying to find or do things in the morning is counterproductive and wastes time better spent doing other things.

Cook double portions- Every time you cook, cook double proportions, and keep half in the refrigerator or freezer for dinner. This way you can finish more work at the office without having to hurry home to cook for the kids.

Ask the kids to sleep early- The earlier the kids go to bed, the more time off you will have for yourself.

Keep your kids'hands full- It is advisable to give your kids something to be busy with, like a box of crayons and pieces of paper, colorful clay, art books and small toys. These things will your kids occupied so you can focus on the household chores.

SURVIVOR : GABON !

Bowtie-wearing Bob Crowley, a 57 year old high school Physics teacher, was an underdog and was such a nice, decent guy for the most part of "Survivor":Gabon" that it was quite a surprise when he emerged the winner in a game where lying and backstabbing are crucial.

In the days leading to the finals, Bob won five challenges in a row. Probst said during the live reunion show that this winning streak ties the show's standing record for most triumphs and the challenges.

"It was a whole lot of luck and a little bit of talent," Bob said of his winning streak in an exclusive interview." I had been really lucky with some of the challenges. The puzzle-building challenge, for example, was great because I happen to be good at puzzles."

And the viewers loved him so much , he also won an additional $100,000 for being the Player of the Season.

Gerard Salonga just staged a successful series of shows leading the Philharmonic Orchestra in Hongkong.Gerard left the country, he took time off to chat with the local media to share the good news.

Gerard was asked if he thinks he is the next Ryan Cayabyab. Lea Salonga's brother humbly answered," If I could be half as good as he is, that would be it for me." Then he stressed that the Maestro Mr. C is in a league of his own having also written a catalogue of hits to his name.

Lea Salonga's younger brother has been gaining international attention. After the Hongkong gig, Gerard is slated to perform with Johnny Depp's artist-wife Vanessa Paradis.

RUFA MAE GETS EMOTIONAL

As much as she tried ending the year intrigue-free, Rufa Mae Quinto was driven to tears when she read her statement on issues linking her to the Vikki Belo-Hayden kho split. Rufa Mae lost her cool a couple of times on " Showbiz Central" saying ,HINDI KAMI friends. Hindi ako close (with Vikki and Hayden) Wala rin akong pelikula with them kaya I dont need ( any publicity ) to get involved with them."

When news of Vikki and Hayden's reconciliation reached Rufa Mae, she said, "Hindi ba? Nakakainis sila ? Magkakabalikan din pala sila, e bakit pa sila nagpa press release na hiwalay sila, tapos dinamay -damay pa nila ako?"

She added. " Madadaan naman pala ang problema nila sa padrama-drama nung isa e. Ang masakit lang dito is bakit napasama ako? Super-namedrop pa sila sa name ko. Many fear the unknown. Many speculate. But there is a proper way to handle the uncertainty of the future. Take notice of the clues around you about the coming days. Tune in to your surroundings. There will always be bad forecasts, and by sensing these clues you may see that the bad may not be that bad after all.

The economy

To the looming global recession, the Philippines will never be affected. Our resiliency is proven to be our best trait. We can still laugh and find fun even in the hardest times. The Filipinos are different from other people in the world. Yes, as the whole world goes deeper into economic woes, we will not follow. A slack can be felt but we will manage very well, and among our Asian counterparts we will be the first one to rise up and recover.

In the middle of the year, when everything will break loose, especially when gas prices go up again, the Philippines will already have adjusted to the worst scenario as predicted by economists. The majority of the Filipinos who are in the middle-income bracket will just feel the slowness of the economy but before it can affect the rich and big businesses, the tide will change. This will be the uphill climb for the rich nations.

The climate and disasters

Water will still dominate the causes of the death and destructions in the world. The date with the probable highest mortality and to remember is Jan. 25 of this year. I can sense a strong negative vibration on this day. Just beware of this date, but do not panic.

Politics

In the Philippines, Gloria Arroyo will still be in power and will make a last try to stay in power in 2010 via suspension of election, or worse abolishing the current structure of government. This is their agenda, if the legal means given by the Constitution will not be acceptable to the populace.

The President

This leader we have today is bound to lead for life. She is destined to lead as long as she remains strong. The secrets of her strength are correct timing, the right people, a very supportive family, one objective, and no opposition. Many play as opposition to the worst-loved leader of the nation but nobody has enough courage to fight to death like she does.

The nearest anyone can get in being a true opposition is Sen. Antonio Trillanes. Unfortunately he is proven to be just a politician and not a person driven by ideology. Only a person who is willing to die for a cause can remove Gloria Arroyo because Gloria is willing to die for her seat.

Sad to say, no politicians and civic leaders today has the character to face confrontation with the strong woman of the nation.

The Senate

This will still be the stage of players as it has always been. They will all play gods, and the political miracle that everyone is waiting for will never come. Gone were the days of respectable senators. All we have are politicians who play like actors and actors who play politicians.

It is also sad to note that these politicians from congress who managed to get in the Senate smoking like hell against the administration are now all smoke in the air, gone and silent in their chairs of power.

The older politicians will play politics of course for their retirement. They will play the game of being "good and wise," strategically playing the strong and mighty but still loved by many.

The Congress

This one can be for Ripley's Believe It or Not. If you need entertainment similar to the comedy bars in town where you can laugh and sometimes be annoyed by jokes made upon you, then go and watch the congress proceedings. This chamber is really wasting taxpayers' money. Sadly, now we realize that we have chosen them during the elections for P500 bills and free entertainments in the plaza.

Showbiz

Showbiz doesn't need a visionary to know the demise of these aging actors. Five natural deaths of old but respectable showbiz personalities will happen in the entertainment world this year.

Local movies will still be losing money. Big and upcoming stars will not make money for the movie companies. Television mini-movies will still be in but the truth is it is the killer of the big screen. Why pay for movies when you can get it free on television? Before everybody realizes it, they have killed their own businesses.

Sports

Manny Pacquiao will still be the best local hero in sports. Two more fights and he will say goodbye. I predict one win and one loss. He will concentrate in politics after that. The question is will he be a good politician? The answer is no.

A woman athlete will come into the limelight in the middle of the year. She will be the best in that sports category. She will be world-class.

Best business opportunity

Underground economy is still the best — no rent, little manpower, minimal overhead operational expenses. A small business venture in which all the members of the family can join in and help is the best. Instead of paying other people, let every family member help and pay them as employees. Presto! One family company will make both ends meet. Street food, food by order and delivery, and anything that entails less production cost will make good business.

Lucky color

Green and yellow are good to wear during business meetings and opportunities. Having a car that is colored green and with shades of yellow will bring luck. Try to get the combination of the two and you will be doubly lucky.

Lucky orientation

The south gate is good this year. Chinese astrology has its own different orientation, but based on my vibration and my own Filipino culture waking up facing south will bring luck.

Lucky month

The luckiest months are May and June. Changes for good opportunities and travel will be bountiful this year.

Fr. FERNANDO SUAREZ (THE MESSENGER)

Catholic priest Fr. Fernando Suarez is the first person to deny being affected by all this uproar. For him, going to healing Masses- be it as huge as the 15,000 crowd drawer that he pulled off at the Los Angeles Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California or as " small" as the one he celebrated,at a reclaimed area in Malibay,Pasay last week - is just like going to the office on a regular day. Really, it's all in a day's work as a messenger- of God.
The 41 year old Fr. Suarez gained popularity when he started conducting healing Masses and people begun attributing healing from particular illnesses to him. Expectedly, some sectors denounced this as unfounded, reminding him that they are "watchful of his healing Masses and activities.
Fr. Suarez is not easily fazed by controversies. He is one who takes things slowly but surely. For instance, it took him 20 years before he acknowledged his gift, waiting for the right time and maturity to be able to use it in the way the Lord wants him to.
