New Moon Rising

Despite mixed reviews on the first fang-tastic flick, summit entertainment has received the go signal to work on the movie adaptation of the twilight sequel. Author Stephanie Meyer says, "I don't think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had. I'm thrilled to have a chance to work with them again on New Moon.

Though Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke won't be directing and Edward  is rumored to have a fewer scenes in this sequel, Robert Pattinson is excited about filming the movie. "I'm looking forward to doing the re-mergence, when he's killing himself. I think it'd be kind of spectacular seeing that. The second book is my favorite so I'm quite looking forward doing it." Kirsten Stewart can't wait to film overseas, telling Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, "A lot of book takes place in italy, and i think we're going to get to go there which is so cool. For a while, they were like, Oh, we on't know if we have the money, but now i think we may have it!" Actor/martial artist Taylor Lautner is hitting the gym twice as much now that his were-wolf transforming character, Jacob ,literally plays a bigger role in new moon. I AM NOT THE GRATEST - JORDAN

Michael Jordan, considered by many as the gratest basketball player of all time, was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame .
Just as he was during his playing days, Jordan was again the center of attention , but was quick to pay tribute to his fellow inductees.
"Contrary to what you guys believe ,it's not just me going into the Hall of Fame ", said Jordan, who led the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championship then finished his career with two seasons at the Washington Wizards.
Jordan entered the Hall of Fame alongside Stockton and Sloan, who,respectively played for and coached the Jazz team Jordan's Bulls defeated in the 1997 and 1988 NBA finals.
Jordan's game winning shot against Utah to win that last championship was a major highlight in a career filled with too many outstanding achievements to count.
Jordan was also coy about his status as the greatest player of all time, saying he did want to compare himself with players from the past , and warned against judging contemporary and future players against him.
Jordan is currently the managing member of basketball operations of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats and said his love affair with the game remains as strong as ever.
"The game of basketball has meant everything to me- it's may refuge ,may peace ; it's been the place of the most intense pain and joy that anyone can imagine.
"I hope that it's given the millions of people who I have touched the motivation to follow their dreams.

HAPPY BATTLE

  All throughout Francis M's carrer, Pia Arroyo-Magalona had been in the bachground as wife and mother to his kids.When Francis M was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia in August last year , it was Pia's strength and fortitude , composure and calmness, that the public got to witness. In TV interviews and in their social networking sites, Pia gave updates on Francis knowing that many Filipinos would want to know how the Man from Manila was.
  Now that her better half is gone, Pia admits that there are still times when she would seek his help on some issues. But she doesn't feel pressure in raising the kids all by herself . She is also keeping herself busy in running the Francis M Clothing Co. or FMMC, the apparel business which Francis started in  2006 . She also plans to put up an educational advocacy even seeing herself teaching someday.
  Maxene Sofia Maria Arroyo Magalona, on the other hand , consciously makes an effort to be a role model to the youth. The 22 year old actress is currently completing her thesis and will hopefully finish her Social Sciences course at the Ateneo de Manila University by yearend. Eventually , Maxene wants to take up master's studies in Education.
  Being the eldest daughter of Francis , Maxene admits that there has always been pressure on her part to keep up with her dad's name and image.
  At present , Pia and Maxene are taking part in advocacies specially close to their hearts. Pia shares that before the rapper passed away, he wanted to wage a battle against cancer by being a spokesperson for those who have leukemia . Wanting to continue his fight , the mother and daughter supported an advocacy against cervical cancer.

BELLA DIMAYUGA talents in awesome performances

Currently making waves are talents of Ms. Bella Dimayuga (of the famous Bellestar Promotions),
who go under the name of Divah Las Divahs and the Phil. Juicy Fruits. The first is a comedy group who's getting to be one of the hottest, most entertaining and most hilarious groups in town. Working together for two years now, they've performed all over the country.
The Phil. Juicy Fruits , on the other hand, is a singing-dancing group who's been much awarded despite the fact that it is just a relatively young group put together by Ms. Dimayuga also two years ago. They are sought -after for events and special shows and they have wowed audiences for their impressive singing, showmanship, lavish costumes , and comic antics as well.
Just recently , these two groups of entertainers performed before several visiting mayors from Guam who watched them in awe ( at the Convention Center at Subic Bay Freeport Zone) and who were impressed enough to have invited them to perform in Guam. Playing host to the mayors was Olongapo Mayor Bong Gordon, who is himself a singer and recording artist.

ALJUR AND KRIS

Aljur and Kris had several kissing scenes in the movie. Kris said one kiss even lasted for five minutes.
In the movie , it was for the first time that Kris wore a two-piece, and Aljur in a swimming trunk. That's why there was much friction of the flesh!

DINGDONG SCALES THE STAIRWAY TO SUCCESS

 Dingdong Dantes latest soap opera , the Filipino adaptation of the popular and hit "Korean-telenovela" "Stairway to Heaven" airs on the Kapuso network's primetime block.
  So what kind of pressure is Dingdong feeling right now? "The pressure is coming from different sources. First, is the success of the original Korean TV series. Second, after so many years , the series is revived and in a local version. Then there's the character requirement because much is expected from me as Cholo....as much as possible I want to set aside the pressure and just focus on making it right . If I'm  always be out there to deal with pressure when in fact you just have to do your job right ," the actor explained.
  Instead of worrying , Dingdong focused more on what's needed for his role. The requirement of him as an actor was huge as he would reprise the role of Cholo, who was much loved by Filipino viewers in the original "Stairway to Heaven".
 As Joyce Bernal , the series ' director explained," I told him not to give me 100% , but 200%. So medyo sa kanya ako nakatutok. If you're looking for a material for your to learn so much and  and for you to really prove that you are an actor, then this is it. So if you won't give everything in this then when and where will you do it?"
  So far, Dingdong Dantes has received positive feedbacks from the advance screening of "Stairway to Heaven" held at Megamall Cinema  and during the show's viewing presscon  at GMA-7's Studio 7. And one of these feedbacks was that he has already shifted well to another leading lady who is Rhian Ramos . He even won praises from GMA SVP for TV and Entairment Wilma Galvante who called him very effective as Cholo.
  "Stairway to Heaven" is the story of childhood sweethearts Cholo and Jodi who got separated when the former went to the States for his studies. he vowed to return for her which he did after five years . He was supposed to marry her but unfortunately, Jodi was run over by Eunice's (Glaiza de Castro), car her step who's after everything she has including Cholo.

Sweet Kamias

The sweet kamias is not really new. We have come across it as early as the 1970s but not many people are growing it.Perhaps people don't grow this because it is not sour and would be useless for souring the native"sinigang".
But one lady who tasted the maturing fruits from our tree was excited . The fruits is perfect for making salad , she said. And that's why she had to get one of our stocks. Of course, it is also enjoyable to eat the fresh fruits right after picking from the tree.
Like the standard kamias variety, the sweet kamias does not need any special care. It produces a lot of fruits one batch after another. Some of the fruits(not all) produce viable seeds and these could be used for propagation. Marcotting is not as easy as in other fruit trees. The marcotted branches produce very fine roots and many of them don't survive.

Seedless Guava

If you want to produce guava that is different, try planting the seedless variety.Its fruit is not as big as the usual guapple, but it is unique in that the fruit is seedless. It is sweet and cruchy, especially if you apply a balanced fertilization of organic as well as chemical fertilizer that contains enough amounts of potash.
This variety is grown in big numbers in some farms in Malaysia. Fruits are often sold in roadside fruit stands. In the Philippines , it is only being planted by hobbyists. We got the own stock from the late Carlos Yusepeng of General Santos City . It is easy to take care of this plant. Marcotting is the usual means of propagation although scions of the seedless variety can be grafted on seedlings of the standard varieties.

Banana With Thousand Fingers

Another interesting plant the hobbyist might consider planting is the Pisang Seribu or the banana with a thousand fingers. This produces a fruit bunch that may be as long as six feet. Most of the fingers, however, are very small and don't have edible flesh. There are fleshy fingers,though, near the base of the bunch and these could be eaten fresh. The fruit tastes like the saba banana.
Pisang Seribu, a variety from Indonesia , is not really grown in large scale for commercial fruit production.It is grown as a conversation piece by hobbyists. An enterprising grower could , however, still make money by growing this. He could sell the suckers at a high price to other hobbyists. Plant hobbyist we know who grow this banana include Mariano de Vera who has a hobby farm in Laguna, Andry Lim of Davao City and Capt. James Fos Reamon of General Santos City.

NEW STAR RUBY MAKOPA

For hobbyists, there is this new Star Ruby makopa introduced from Thailand by a local foundation. This one produces crunchy fruits that are bigger than previously introduced varieties. In Bangkok according to Dr. Benito S. Vergara, it is selling at more than double the price of other commercial varieties. He had also reported that imported fruits of Star Ruby were being sold in an upscale supermarket in Makati City at P800 per kilo.
Star Ruby is ideal for the hobbyist in the urban area because it can be grown in containers as well
as in the ground . Marcotted plants will start bearing fruit in a couple of years if given the right cultural management. That means it is regularly fertilized with organic as well as chemical fertilizers. It should also receive adequate light. Too shady location is not good for makopa.
Star Ruby is seedless so it has to be propagated by means of marcotting. If you have seedling of other varieties, you can multiply Star Ruby by grafting.

The children played, half-naked, while their parents milled around, while others eyed warily their camp's latest visitors.
The men spoke up. Their greatest fear is to come back to their real homes only to be forced to leave once again when caught in crossfire. In a region where men are married to their guns, trust is as elusive as peace.
The dialogue was open ,free-wheeling and quite revealing.On the side of the local leaders, the concerns were common and urgent peace agreement, would they , the ARMM officials , once again be shunted to the margins as invisible stakeholders?

"DARNA" soars above all in nationwide TV ratings

GMA Network's new series "Darna" which stars Primetime Queen Marian Rivera, has quickly conquered the hearts of Filipinos when it ranked number one in TV ratings nationwide.
Based on the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) data from AGB Nielsen Philippines fromAug.9 to 15 "DARNA" beat all programs nationwide and took number one spot with an average TV rating of 35.6%. "Darna's" audience share reached 47.3% which translates to more than 2.7 million projected number of TV households.
The series , originally created for comics by Mars Ravelo , premiered last Aug. 10 on GMA Telebabad. " Darna" pilot episode posted a TV rating of 44% in Mega Manila. since then , 'Darna" has been posting more than 40% TV ratings in most days, almost double the TV ratings being generated by its competing program.
The show posted its highest TV ratings in Mega Manila of 47.5% last Aug.18 when Narda became Darna for the first time.
"Darna's " story gets even more intense in its upcoming episodes as the journey of the Pinay superhero continues. This week, Darna's alter-ego, Narda ,becomes the target of Impi(mura), the evil twin of supervillain Babaeng Impakta (Nadine Samonte) .

Former Philippine Presiednt Corazon Aquino, the icon of democracy and people power in the Philippines and around the world, passed away at 3:18a.m. saturday after more than a year of courageous battle against colon cancer , his son Sen. Benigno"Noynoy" Aquino lll said. She was 76.
The official cause of death was cardio-respiratory arrest, Noynoy said in a statement read to members of the media at around 5:15 a.m. at the Makati Medical Center (MMC) where the former President had been confined since June 25 this year.
" Our mother peacefully passed away at 3:18 a.m., August 1, 2009 of cardio-respiratory arrest," Noynoy said
"She would have wanted us to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and your continued love and support . It was her wish for all of us to pray for one another and for our country."

Yūta Takemoto, Takumi Mayama and Shinobu Morita are three young men who live in the same apartment complex and are students at an art college in Tokyo.

One day, one of the art professors, Shūji Hanamoto, introduces his cousin's daughter, Hagumi Hanamoto, who has come to live with him and is a first year at the art school. Upon introduction, Takemoto and Morita fall in love with her. Morita expresses his love for Hagu in ways that scare her, especially calling Hagu 'mousey' and constantly photographing her, while Takemoto hides his feelings and tries to be a friend to Hagu. Hagu herself, though initially timid and afraid of company, gradually warms up to the three.

The group also includes another female: Ayumi Yamada. She is a master of pottery, and is well known by her name "Tetsujin" (Iron Lady). When not at school or hanging out with friends from the college, she helps run the family liquor store. She is very popular with all the guys, whether they are from the shopping district the liquor store is in or the other male pottery students, but Mayama is the only man she is in love with.

Unfortunately, although Mayama considers Yamada a friend, he does not return Yamada's love and is busy chasing an older woman, Rika Harada. Rika runs an architecture studio which she used to run with her husband, Harada before he died in a car accident which also left Rika disabled. Rika Harada and Shūji were very close friends and roommates in college. Mayama is sent by Shūji to help Rika, who has a hard time taking care of herself and running her business.

The story follows these five characters in their love triangles, unrequited love, graduating from college, finding jobs, and learning more about themselves.

King of pop Michael Jackson dead at 50- I’ve just learned, after doing some internet searching that Michael Jackson has died. According to Sky News and BBC News channel - who are basing their coverage from celebrity gossip website TMZ - Jackson died after suffering cardiac arrest at his home.

Michael Jackson suffered a cardiac arrest at his home and paramedics were unable to revive him. When paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and he was dead.

According to TMZ, a cardiologist at UCLA tells Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest. The staff tried to save him but he was completely unresponsive.

TMZ source inside the hospital said, there was “absolute chaos” after Michael Jackson arrived. And people with him were screaming, “You’ve got to save him! You’ve got to save him!”

La Toya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.

Confirmed: ADAM LAMBERT IS A GAY!

NEW YORK (AP) — "American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert has landed the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, where he talks about sex, drugs and his "Idol" experiences.

The 27-year-old singer from San Diego acknowledges in an interview that he's gay, and says it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

"I'm proud of my sexuality," he says. "I embrace it. It's just another part of me."
Lambert says he was inspired to audition for the Fox network singing competition after having a "psychedelic experience" at the Burning Man festival in Nevada. There, he says, he experimented with "certain funguses."
"I knew that it was my only shot to be taken seriously in the recording industry, because it's fast and broad," he says of "Idol."
Lambert emerged as an early front-runner and judge favorite, thanks in part to his soaring vocal range.
When he moved into the show's Bel-Air mansion with the other finalists, he roomed with Kris Allen, who won the "Idol" title over Lambert last month.
"I was like, 'Oh, (bleep), they put me with the cute guy,'" Lambert says. "Distracting! He's the one guy that I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean, he's open-minded and liberal, but he's definitely 100 percent straight."
According to Rolling Stone, Lambert was open about his sexuality backstage at "Idol." In March, photos surfaced online of Lambert kissing his ex-boyfriend.
"Going into 'Idol,' I assumed, 'OK, people are going to talk,'" he says. "I mean, I've been living in Los Angeles for eight years as a gay man, I've been at clubs making out with somebody in the corner. But photographic evidence? Didn't count on that. Wasn't ready for that."
He says he worried that a public announcement would overshadow his singing, so he decided not to respond and largely kept his personal life under wraps on the show.
"I'm an entertainer, and who I am and what I do in my personal life is a separate thing," he says. "It shouldn't matter. Except it does. It's really confusing."
Lambert says he isn't interested in being the poster child for gay rights. "I'm trying to be a singer, not a civil-rights leader."


He also reveals that he began smoking pot and tried Ecstasy for the first time while performing in a European production of "Hair" in his early twenties.
"I've finally checked in to my self-worth for the first time in my life, and the fact that it has coincided with 'Idol' is so sweet," he says. "I mean, I still have moments where I think, 'Oh, my skin is terrible, and I'm a little fat, I should really go to the gym more.' But for the most part, when I look in the mirror now, I finally see someone who can do something cool."

Q&A. Really, Mr. Swarup is a genius! I so loved how he presented the life of Ram Mohammad Thomas. I especially liked how Ram answered each question just because he was lucky enough that all the questions given to him were those that he knew the answers to. Each chapter of his life was engagingly fast-paced. Yes, I was literally glued to the book that's why I was able to read it in one sitting.

I just don't like it that the movie seems so different from the book.

American idol season 8 finale

May 21 2009 , 8am telecast here in the philippines @ QTV 11...

When I woke up in the morning, I remember that it is already the finals of American Idol season 8. We bet that Adam will win this season.Despite from the fact that he is a bisexual or a gay, we believe on his talent and deserved the title. From the time i watch the episode where in he sung "Born to be wild" caught my attention not only that also from his tantalizing eyes and looks. He's attractive he looks like a devil.. hahahha. While Kris on the other hand, He is a guy next door and cute but not that appealing for me. I watched his performances but it does not captivate me. His genre is more on acoustics. i love acoustic sessions. I can't explain why i don't notice him until it's top 4..

The Finals is star studded! Stars from the music industry was there. Any genre would it be!
I love their performances. David Cook guested on the show. Of course! He will already turn over the title. he's really cool on stage. It's a while only as I think they had a concert here in manila.. hahaha.. Now, he performed in America. He sung "permanent" and announce that he is supporting an organization about cancer. His brother died of it. I felt his aura that is of sorrow. He still rocks. Archie was also there but did'nt perform..

In the End, Louisana wons. Kris Allen got the title. We got disaappointed here but it's ok. It's America's choice. Congrats Kris Allen! Adam you still rocks! \m/ Be straight!

What now Katrina?

Now that the compromising video on katrina halili and hayden kho got out for the whole world to see, how will the actress deal with her previous denial that there never was a video? For those living under a rock, the video showed katrina in her undies dancing for a brief clad hayden while the latter awklardly rehearsed "careless Whisper".
